New Transmitter Complete

I have finally finished the new transmitter for Splash FM. It will be located on a shared location so I have had to find and tune a cavity filter to stop other trasmissions coming down the transmission line and creating intermods. I was able to locate one of the old NZPO filters from when the Post Office hogged the FM band for land mobile. The transmitter is an NRG kits tranmitter fitted to a Jaycar 1U rack cabinet.

It is excellent having a Bird power meter. I have been able to fine tune the circuit and tune the cavity filter. Once the antenna is finalised we will be able to calculate the base power.

The site has 19″ racks so all equipment will be rack mounted

Next on the project list will be building a mini-itx PC into a 2U Jaycar rack box and also a 12V pack with gell cells and charger to keep the system running during Waiheke Islands many power cuts.
Since taking this photo I have run a coax from under the output PL259 connector to the rear mounted N Connector. I left the PL259 on the board for two reasons, 1) I have no need for PL259 connectors and 2) it is a handy place to plug the PL259 dummy load into.
